DR LARISSA JOHNSON

CHARTERED PRACTITIONER PSYCHOLOGIST

Larissa Johnson Practitioner Psychologist

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Hi, I’m Dr Larissa, a HCPC registered and Chartered Practitioner Psychologist. I’m also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, EMDR Therapist, and Level 1 Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher. I’m dedicated to providing a compassionate and supportive space for individuals to navigate their personal challenges and facilitate transformative change.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people facing a wide range of difficulties including  traumatic histories, shame self-criticism, personality difficulties, offending and substance use histories, intense stress, and managing painful and confusing emotions. I understand the impact these struggles can have on one’s well-being, and I am committed to offering a safe and empathetic environment where clients can find strength and resilience.

In my practice, I believe in the power of building a strong therapeutic alliance and tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. By integrating a range of therapeutic models, I aim to provide a holistic and personalised treatment plan that supports healing and personal growth.

I am particularly passionate about trauma-informed care and compassion-focused therapy. I recognise the profound impact of trauma and the importance of creating a safe space for service users to explore their experiences, gain insights, and develop practical strategies for recovery and resilience.

Beyond individual sessions, I also enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with other mental health professionals and organisations. I offer workshops, trainings, and consultations to promote trauma-informed practices and contribute to building a more compassionate and supportive community.

INVEST IN YOURSELF AND YOUR WELLBEING

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR THERAPISTS

We carry out rigorous checks and vet all our therapists before they join the team. They must meet with our high standards of professional specification which includes:

First, we carry out a triage step during a 15-minute free initial telephone consultation. Depending on the challenges you’re facing, we will then recommend a counsellor, CBT therapist or clinical psychologist.

We also have clinic locations throughout the North, so there is usually one not too far from you.

As a result, we can usually offer an appointment quickly and at a time and place convenient for you. But, above all, tailored to your needs.
