About Elysia

Hey, my name is Elysia and I’m a clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience in psychology, including five years working specifically with young people in mental health services. My aim is to provide a space where you can talk openly without feeling judged or pressured, and where you will be met with compassion and kindness.

During my career, I’ve supported both young people and adults across a range of settings, including community services, crisis support, and specialist teams for eating disorders and trauma. I work with people who might be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or struggling with things like past experiences, relationships, or big life changes. I’ve also worked closely with families, schools, and other support networks, which helps me take a broader, more holistic approach when it’s helpful.

My approach is collaborative and centred around you. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, trauma-focused CBT, and systemic therapy. Rather than sticking rigidly to one model, I integrate different ideas to suit you as a person, including adapting therapy in ways that support a range of neurodivergent needs and experiences.

At the heart of my work is a trauma-informed and compassionate approach. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood, and where we can shape therapy around your needs, keeping what matters to you at the centre.

Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting. You might not know what to expect, or perhaps you’ve had therapy before and are hoping for something different this time. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet. My role is to help you make sense of what’s going on for you, and we’ll do that together, one step at a time. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure where to begin, you’re welcome to come exactly as you are.

Change can feel hard, but it is possible. We can work together to help things feel different, in a way that feels right for you. I understand that reaching out isn’t always easy, but I aim to make this therapeutic journey as safe and supportive as possible when you do.
