About Becky
I have worked as a psychologist for the past 17 years with children, adolescents, adults and their families. Before I qualified I worked in a number of jobs with children, firstly at a Camphill community with children with learning disabilities and while at university, I worked with several autistic children on a part-time basis providing support in their own homes.
I love my job and I am passionate about improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of the people I work with. I believe that an increased understanding of how the brain and body work together is key to improving wellbeing and maintaining mental health. My approach is collaborative, and I work hard to develop a shared understanding of a person’s difficulties, and how to work together on improving things. I have worked in the NHS for several years in a local child and adolescent mental health team and this involved a huge variety of clinical presentations with children of all ages. In 2018 I decided on a change of job and moved to a small company to work specifically with children and young people who have experienced early trauma. This gave me increased insight and understanding about the importance of the early years and how to intervene therapeutically to support both children and their families to gain a deeper understanding of each other, and experience joy within their relationships.
I am a friendly and quirky person and use humour in sessions to help engage young people and make them feel more relaxed and comfortable. I enjoy learning new skills and insights and do regular training as part of my continuous professional development.
