About Lloyd

Hi, my name is Lloyd, I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and I work with adults over 18 across the lifespan, focussing on a wide variety of physical and psychological difficulties. I have extensive experience working in a range of NHS and private sector services, where I offer a comfortable and safe space for individuals who are experiencing mental health difficulties and psychological distress. I am able to tailor and adapt psychological interventions specifically to match your needs and strengths, ensuring that our work together is communicated and delivered in the format that fits you best. I offer short-term, time-limited, and longer-term psychological therapy which can be done face-to-face, online through video calling software, and via the telephone. I have excellent measured outcomes for a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, panic disorders, stress, trauma, grief, problems with sleep and adjustment to physical and neurological problems.

I hold a BSc in Forensic Psychology and a MSc in Health Psychology from the University of Teesside. I went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Therapies based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Newcastle University, before successfully completing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology on the Trent Doctoral course which spans the Universities of Lincoln and Nottingham. This means I am qualified to the highest standards and trained to understand you as an individual, and the issues that you might bring to therapy.

I use an integrative approach, drawing on a number of evidence based psychological approaches to underpin my clinical practice. I utilise a number of therapies, but I have specific interests in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). This means I can use different therapies to best match the difficulties you are experiencing. We can work towards a joint understanding of the development and maintenance of your difficulties and collaboratively choose the best approach to manage your difficulties and aim to improve your quality of life.

Outside of Select Psychology, I work in the NHS, within a specialist Neuropsychology service. I have also spent time working in research, publishing a number of articles, as I am passionate about the continued development of psychology and how to support individuals. My research interests are; improving access to psychological care; adjustment to long-term health conditions; supporting carers and loved ones of people with neurological conditions; adapting therapeutic interventions for individuals with neurological conditions; and stroke research.
