About Glenn
Hi, my name is Glenn Scott. I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience of working with people who are experiencing emotional and psychological distress. I offer a safe and compassionate space to explore your difficulties in a collaborative and sensitive way, and I am committed to providing therapy sessions that allow exploration, healing and recovery in a client centred-way that fully respects the individual and their needs.
I have worked in a range of NHS services including an inner city addiction service, primary care psychology, and in inpatient psychiatric rehabilitation units. Most recently, I have been working as the trustwide lead for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) in the largest mental health NHS trust in North East of England.
The main form of psychotherapy that I practice is CAT, which is a relationally-focused therapy that helps us to understand, recognise and change unhelpful ways of relating to ourselves and others. I am also able to deliver integrated approaches that includes concepts from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) so that clients can receive a tailored response to their individual difficulties.
My approach is always relational at its core as well as being compassionate and trauma informed. I always try to help clients to find resilience and courage to change longstanding patterns, and to help them understand the roots of their difficulties in the context of their life experiences.
Therapy can bring about some difficult feelings in us and can perhaps be unsettling, especially in the early stages. I aim to create a warm and trusting relationship with my client that is built on mutual openness and respect, with the hope that we can embark on a journey of exploration and healing together. I hope to provide emotional scaffolding and compassion as a basis from which my clients can reach a place of increased self-understanding and change.
It takes strength and courage to be vulnerable and open with a therapist and I feel privileged and honoured when a client is able to share their difficulties, thoughts and story with me. I hope you are able to take this step towards positive change and look forward to being a part of this exhilarating journey with you.
