About Claire
Hi, my name is Claire. I am a Clinical Psychologist with 10 years of experience supporting people experiencing emotional and psychological distress. I offer a non-judgmental and person-centered approach and seek to work collaboratively with people to support them to understand their difficulties and to achieve their personal goals.
I have experience of working in a variety of health care settings within the NHS with adults, people with an intellectual disability, and children and young people. I have worked collaboratively with people experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, relational difficulties, and low self-esteem.
My training as a Clinical Psychologist has included a number of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Practice and Systemic Practice. My approach integrates elements of these therapies to suit the needs of the person and their goals of therapy. I have also received further training in trauma informed care and utilize this framework in all aspects of my work to ensure a safe, supportive and healing environment.
It is natural to feel apprehensive about attending therapy and I understand that it can feel daunting in the beginning. If you choose to begin your therapy journey with me, I will offer you a non-judgmental and safe space to share your experiences and what has brought you to therapy. From here, we will work together to develop a shared understanding of your presenting difficulties and experiences. This will support us to plan the direction we take in therapy so that it is person-centered and meaningful to you.
My aim as a Clinical Psychologist is to support people to build on their strengths and to live a life that feels meaningful to them. It would be a privilege for me to support you on your journey to making positive changes in your life.
