About Sara

Hello, my name is Sara I am a counselling psychologist with around 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults who are suffering from a range of mental health difficulties and emotional distress. Having qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in 2009 at Teeesside University. I later worked at Teesside university training other psychologist on the doctoral programme. Over the years I have worked in a variety of settings as a senior psychologist -both NHS and Private . I have developed more specialised experience in trauma recovery. I have considerable expertise in the area of child and adolescent mental health and working with families who may be adjusting to difficult circumstances. I enjoy providing parenting support such as therapeutic parenting , PACE and attachment and trauma focussed therapy which can be helpful when supporting children who display emotional and behavioural distress.

I draw on a range of different therapeutic approaches, and I will often use a blend of therapies to suit your individual needs. I am a very open and down to earth psychologist- I value transparency and integrity- I hope to provide a safe space where we can work collaboratively toward your goals. I am trained to deliver Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a specific form of highly effective psychological therapy that works to help people process past traumatic experiences, enabling them to heal from past trauma and move on with their lives.

Taking the first steps towards therapy can be really scary and takes a huge amount of courage . I hope to provide a very genuine and supportive space to support you and your family to move beyond adversity and challenges toward a more fulfilling life.
