About Hannah

Hi, my name is Hannah and I’m a Counselling Psychologist. I have been working with adults over 18 in turmoil for around 17 years now, throughout the lifespan and across a variety of contexts. My primary concern within our sessions is ensuring that you feel safe enough for us to fully explore your wants and needs so that we can work collaboratively together to meet these.

My professional interests encompass the whole human experience and so I have sought out roles which reflect this. I have worked with children and families who have experienced school related difficulties, homeless young people, military veterans (including those who have had contact with the criminal justice system), and people who have accessed therapy via their works Employee Assistance Programme. I have worked with people experiencing symptoms of psychosis, and those struggling with eating disorders. I now compliment my work at Select with a role in palliative care within the NHS.

An important aspect of Counselling Psychology is to develop a philosophical stance, informed by the psychological knowledge we have available to us. My approach is grounded in a person-centered perspective, prioritising the three core conditions of unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathy. With this as my foundation I build and tailor my approach to your needs, drawing from the fields of psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavioural therapy to deliver effective change. My approach is evidence based and I am always mindful of offering you choices so that we can ensure you get the most from our sessions.

I believe that within each of us is the potential for a fulfilling life, however sometimes the challenges we face can feel like very real barriers to this. I will work alongside you to explore what might be most helpful in your unique situation. My hope is that by providing a warm, compassionate and safe environment I will create with you opportunities to explore other perspectives, and develop new approaches to meeting your goals.

Well done on taking the first step towards change by exploring the options open to you. If, after reading my profile you think we might work well together then I look forward to meeting you. If your choices take you in a different direction, I wish you well on your journey.
