About Alison

Hello, I’m Alison Barton, a CBT Therapist with a broad life experience across education and training, performance, and business.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can speak and be heard.

My approach is collaborative and educational – always from a person centred position. You (the client) and I work together – I learn about your experience whilst sharing the tools and techniques of CBT. Together we figure out how to improve your outcomes, and help you feel better and more like your authentic self again.

Following a career in the performing arts and education, in mid-life, I completed an honours degree in psychology, followed by a certificate in counselling skills and a graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have lectured in Cognitive Behavioural Theory and practiced as a therapist in Further Education and private practice.

I work with adult individuals, including seniors. I have a special interest in occupation, vocation, employment, and later life.

If you are looking for specific help with addiction or you are seeking help as a couple, or for a child, I may not be the best fit for you.

In our first session together, you can expect to be held without judgement while we learn about what is going on for you, and what early steps can be taken to begin the process of positive change. From there, we figure out the best ways to help you make positive changes which produce measurable results.

I firmly believe that everyone deserves to be happy, and that beneficial change is not only possible but achievable.

Asking for help isn’t always easy, but it can be the first step to a happier, more positive experience.

I look forward to meeting you and exploring how we can work together.
