Mental health dominates many headlines in today’s media, which no doubt has had an impact on awareness of the issues that surround it, creating a surge of people looking for help.
Select Psychology, a North East based private counselling and clinical psychology practice has experienced significant growth due to demand and have opened their fourth clinic in Sunderland.
Dr Matilda Moffett, Clinical Psychologist and co-founder of Select Psychology tells us;
“It’s fantastic that people are recognising that it’s just as important to look after your mental health as well as your physical health in order to have a fulfilling life.
There certainly has been a great shift over the last few years in how people talk about issues that they have and are more willing to seek help to overcome them.”
Select Psychology was only launched in 2016 in Tynemouth and has grown from three therapists to team of over fifteen; delivering counselling, CBT and psychology treatments to children and adults. The organisation now has four main clinics and several satellite clinics across the North of England to enable easier access.
Matilda goes on to tell us;
“The exceptional growth we have experienced is down to a mix of needs of the market and our location-based marketing strategy. We’ve worked hard at understanding the needs of people and shaping a service that meets this; ensuring that we are providing clinics that patients can access.
With NHS resources stretched and limitations on what they can provide to the public, we provide additional support to people who want to access the right services, quickly.”
Select Psychology work with families, adults and children, with all therapists having specialisms covering a range of therapies and issues; including weight management, post traumatic stress disorder, bereavement, relationship problems, anxiety and depression and much more.
Matilda concludes;
“We are finding more and more employers, public services and GPs are referring people to us as they recognise that there isn’t the budget or the resource available in the NHS to meet the demand.
The same as poor physical health; having poor mental health will greatly impact the lives of the sufferers and their loved ones. Our focus is to help our patients overcome their issues by giving them access to the right face to face treatment quickly.”
Select Psychology’s Sunderland clinic has opened at the innovative site Hope Street Exchange.
