About Claire

Hi, my name is Claire. I’m a Clinical Health Psychologist with experience supporting people through a range of emotional and life challenges. I offer a calm, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s been happening, make sense of your experiences, and work towards the changes you want to make. My background is in the NHS where I’ve worked mostly in medical settings, this in includes long-term conditions teams, maternity and neonatal settings. Over the years, I’ve supported people adjusting to illness, change, loss and trauma.

My main models of therapy are:

1) Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) – a therapy for traumatic experiences and PTSD symptoms.

2) Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) – a treatment for depression that focuses on relationships. This can be helpful when depression started after a relationship event such as a breakup, conflict, life change, or bereavement.

3) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – an intervention that focuses on patterns of thoughts feelings and behaviours to reduce distress.

I adapt my approach according to client need, sometimes using a single-model of therapy and other times working in a more integrated, flexible way. My overall style is trauma-informed and compassion-focused. I believe that everyone’s difficulties make sense in the context of their life experiences. Together we’ll explore patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating, so that you can begin to understand yourself with greater kindness and work towards your personal goals.

It can feel daunting to reach out, especially if you are not sure where to start or find it hard to ask for help. In our sessions, we’ll move at your pace, creating a space where you feel safe to talk and explore what matters most to you. I truly recognise the courage it takes, and if you decide to begin therapy, I look forward to meeting you and supporting you as you take this next step.
