Dr Matilda Moffett

Professional background and experience

After qualifying In 2006 I started my NHS role at the RVI in Health Psychology – working with clients with diabetes and weight management needs. In 2009 I started my NHS role in the Bariatric Surgery Service and Weight Management Service where I have continued to work -offering specialist psychological support for individuals pre and post bariatric surgery. Typical issues covered in therapy include emotional eating, binge eating and body image disturbance.

In 2008 I started independent practice – working with adults with a range of mental health issues including anxiety, phobias, depression and eating disorders, primarily utilising a cognitive behavioural therapy approach. My private work has continued to prosper over the years and in 2016 I became clinical director of Select Psychology in Tynemouth where I have a regular clinic as well as operating at the Nuffield Hospital in Newcastle.
