DR JUSTYNA SUCHOSTAWSKA

COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST

Justyna Suchostawska Psychologist

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

I am trained to a doctoral level, and I have over 10 years of experience helping people in the NHS, charity sector and private practice. My previous roles included working with early relationship difficulties, trauma, addictions, and a wide range of difficulties, such as depression and anxiety (where these symptoms are rooted in the past experiences).

My approach is relational, and I predominantly work using psychodynamic and attachment theories, which means looking at how early life experiences and relationships shape the ways in which people relate to themselves and others, and how this impact on current life and relationships with others. The focus is on exploring early life experiences and working together to develop insight and new ways of relating and coping.

If you are looking for a structured approach such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with the main focus on problem solving, I may not be the best practitioner to support your needs.

Therapy is difficult and can be confusing at first. Some people seek help for specific reasons, such as anxiety or depression, dissatisfaction in life or inability to form meaningful relationships. Therapy can contribute to your mental and physical health, overall sense of wellbeing, and ability to live a more fulfilling life. From here, we can begin to make connections between your history and your present difficulties, whatever they may be. My role is to empower you, offering choices and working together to plan the direction we take in therapy.

I look forward to meeting you.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR THERAPISTS

We carry out rigorous checks and vet all our therapists before they join the team. They must meet with our high standards of professional specification which includes:

First, we carry out a triage step during a 15-minute free initial telephone consultation. Depending on the challenges you’re facing, we will then recommend a counsellor, CBT therapist or clinical psychologist.

We also have clinic locations throughout the North, so there is usually one not too far from you.

As a result, we can usually offer an appointment quickly and at a time and place convenient for you. But, above all, tailored to your needs.
