Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Clark Davison Select Psychology

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

I’m Dr Sally Moore and I am a registered and accredited Counselling Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with nearly 20 years of clinical experience working with adults and children with a wide range of issues including abuse, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, PTSD and trauma.

As a Counselling Psychologist I have been trained to work with a wide variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches that include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy and person-centred therapy. I am also a qualified Interpersonal Therapist (IPT Therapist) and I have an NHS role in adult mental health.

During our lives most of us face difficult times and situations where the usual strategies we use to cope or manage don’t work the way they once used to. At these times, it can help to explore the difficulties with a supportive and experienced therapist, with a view to identifying and working towards meaningful changes. I work towards enabling individuals to maximise and draw on their internal resources to better understand their difficulties and to feel empowered and in control of their lives.

I understand that each person responds differently to their difficulties, and we would explore together what you might hope to gain from therapy and agree the most helpful ways of meeting your goals. I provide a safe, containing, and confidential listening space where you can explore and express your feelings and the things you are hoping to change.

As a practitioner, I approach psychological difficulties from a person-centred perspective, which means first and foremost acknowledging a person’s humanity and recognising their own innate strengths to work towards solutions and a brighter path forwards.

In practice, it is often most helpful to work in an integrated way, which means tailoring an approach for you from across the broad range of therapeutic approaches available, that best explains and fits your own particular needs.

Therapy is a shared process, which means we both work together on the challenges you are facing. Change is not easy and involves perseverance and I will consistently work hard to support you throughout this process and help you to identify and draw on your strengths.

We also have clinic locations throughout the North, so there is usually one not too far from you.

As a result, we can usually offer an appointment quickly and at a time and place convenient for you. But, above all, tailored to your needs.
