Hi, my name is Sophie. I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with more than 16-years of qualified experience supporting people who are struggling with emotional and psychological distress.

I provide a therapeutic space where it is safe to explore difficult experiences from the past, challenges in the present or fears for the future. I work collaboratively and compassionately with you, to identify your objectives for therapy, how you wish life to be different; supporting you, step-by-step to accomplish your goals.

I am passionate about supporting and empowering people to overcome life’s obstacles. My experience as a Clinical Psychologist has allowed me the privilege of working closely with those facing unexpected and serious life events, either for themselves or those close to them. Often this has been as a result of life events, physical health issues, neurological conditions, life stage transitions, loss or traumatic events; resulting in understandable distress and overwhelm for the person.

I have worked within large organisations, providing leadership, supervision and coaching at a senior level for managers and teams. I understand the demands of stressful, highly responsible professional roles and have experience of working with individuals to navigate life associated with these pressures. I have also provided input at a National level in my professional field.

My approach to working with another person is to be respectful, authentic and genuine. I provide the opportunity to truly hear your story and understand how your experiences have influenced your life. We will map out some of the challenges you have experienced, but also recognise the skills you have developed, discovering options for your next steps and offering hope and an expectation that life can be different.

I am trained in a number of therapies including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i). Throughout the work together I will listen closely to your story, to understand the challenges you have faced, the skills you have developed to overcome these experiences, and the factors that can leave us all feeling stuck at times. I adopt an integrative approach, utilising a range of evidenced-based therapies, to create a bespoke intervention to meet your needs and that you feel in control of.

People can naturally feel apprehensive coming to therapy, taking those first steps into the unknown with a new person. However, know that if you choose to go on that journey together with me, I will provide a non-judgmental, collaborative relationship, where trust can grow, and you will feel empowered to make positive changes in your life.

If you are choosing to take that brave decision to move forward with therapy, please get in touch to find out more about living to your full potential.

We carry out rigorous checks and vet all our therapists before they join the team. They must meet with our high standards of professional specification which includes:

First, we carry out a triage step during a 15-minute free initial telephone consultation. Depending on the challenges you’re facing, we will then recommend a counsellor, CBT therapist or clinical psychologist.

We also have clinic locations throughout the North, so there is usually one not too far from you.

As a result, we can usually offer an appointment quickly and at a time and place convenient for you. But, above all, tailored to your needs.
