Professional background and experience
Since qualifying in 2005, I have worked in a range of settings with adults experiencing emotional distress, including those with longer-term difficulties, those in crisis and in hospital and those experiencing difficulties for the first time.
I am a highly adaptive and responsive to the needs of each person I see, making recommendations informed by the best evidence available and compassionate understanding of the factors contributing to a person’s distress. I am motivated to enable each individual to develop ways to understand and manage their situation and ultimately to achieve their goals for change. I have much experience implementing Compassion Focussed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR.
I provide supervision for other professionals interested in Compassion Focussed Therapy and enjoy teaching the principles of compassion and impact of psychological trauma at local universities.
I recently co-authored the following resource in conjunction with NHS England about PTSD in later life.
Recently I submitted the following journal article:
The systemic interactions between people and their context: Using structured Compassion Focussed Formulations towards change in couples and organisations. Lennox, T. and Kennedy, A.
