As well as traditional CBT I also practice Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) both of which come under the umbrella of CBT. I also have experience in mindfulness and utilise this within my other therapeutic approaches. I have also trained in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).
In terms of my therapeutic approach I work in an informal, open and non-judgemental way. I believe that whatever therapeutic approach is employed, the most important thing is to be able to connect with my client, and work with them to identify what their difficulties are, and how to find solutions to overcome them that are relevant and makes sense to the client. While I am comfortable working with most problems, I am particularly experienced with psychological traumas having worked extensively with these over the past four years. I also have a lot of experience with working with people with Asperger’s/high functioning autism. In terms of psychological trauma, I have worked with a range of manifestations of this, including complex military trauma through to relatively straightforward single incident related experiences.
